Teaming up with Twisted Balloon company’s chief balloon artist Todd Neufeld, we created a life sized balloon Howard Stern for the Tyra Banks Show. Recently engaged to Howard Stern, when Beth Ostrosky, was going to be a guest on the show, Tyra Banks wanted to do something really special and unique to help her celebrate. Apparently Beth O loves balloons, and obviously she loves Howard, so it just made sense to make a balloon Howard Stern. Todd and I were of course happy to comply.
Having a limited amount of time to make this before it was time to air, we got to the studio early, and worked diligently all morning to create something that would capture the larger than life personality that is Howard Stern. Lots of balloon hair later, we had made our very own balloon Howard Stern. In order to present her present, we had to covertly slip Balloon Howie into a loading elevator. Being very tall, there was a fun production of figuring out the timing so this would all go smoothly.

Because the producers wanted to recreate the fell of the engagement, we put him in a balloon tuxedo, and gave him an engagement ring to present to Beth.
Beth was surprised and delighted by her strange, but fun gift, and personally thanked us after the show. As always, Todd and I had a great time working together to bring a little sunshine, snark, and balloons into the world!

As we were leaving the studio, we found balloon Howard Stern wrapped up in a plastic bag ready to be taken home. The visual was sort-of oddly dark and funny to me, so I got a quick photo. We were glad she decided to keep her new friend. We just hope the real Howard Stern doesn’t get jealous!
